ABOUT ME

I was born in Petersburg, Virginia as the youngest of four kids to a military family. As a kid I lived all over the United States, but in all the places I lived, I had one love, golfing. To this day, my dream is to be a professional golfer … although now it will have to be on the senior tour. I attended the University of Idaho in the early 90’s where I met my wife Dominique. We married in 1995 and moved north to Alaska; Ketchikan was Dom’s hometown. We now have 4 wonderfully gifted kids, who are now all adults.

Because of my kid’s involvement in sports over the years I became deeply involved in the sports community. I’ve coached both softball and baseball in Ketchikan Little League (also many years on the KLL Board) as well as many years coaching basketball in Ketchikan Dribblers League. These days, since my kids are grown, I now invest my time as the President of the Ketchikan Ministerial Association. Since Ketchikan has no golf course I am not sure my dream of being a professional golfer will happen any time soon, but a guy can still dream.

As for work, I started my career by being a school teacher in both private and public schools in Ketchikan before getting into full time ministry (see below). In 2003 God, with His great sense of humor, nudged me into the unexpected opportunity of becoming the lead pastor of STAC.

WHY I ENTERED MINISTRY

As a 12-year old kid, on a family trip, I had a supernatural vision one day of me, in the future, teaching about Jesus to a crowd of people. Since I am an introvert, I knew that vision was just a joke from God and would never come to pass. But, 4 decades later God has got the last laugh. I started ministry at STAC as a youth ministry volunteer, that lead to being a children’s ministry volunteer, which lead to a part-time job at STAC, then a full-time job at STAC, then eventually to the roll of Lead Pastor @ STAC. None of that was planned, at least not by me. Along the way I became ordained as a pastor with the Christian and Missionary Alliance.

WHY STAC

God continues to affirm my role as Lead Pastor even though at times I still feel like I am in over my head. I am forever thankful for a gracious congregation who, over the years, has let me learn on the job. I plan on helping STAC by making disciples and raising up new leaders of all ages.
